XXI Technical Dam Control International Conference “Challenges in Hydraulic Engineering” was held on 9–12 September 2025 in Krakow.
The conference was organised by Division of Hydro-Engineering and Hydraulics of Warsaw University of Technology.
The conference co-organisers were:
The conference was held in a hybrid format. It was attended by 209 participants from 20 countries, including 149 on-site attendees.
A total of 48 international guests attended the conference on-site, representing Belgium, the Czech Republic, Japan, Canada, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Lithuania, Malaysia, North Macedonia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Switzerland, Ukraine, Hungary and Italy.
In addition, 12 international speakers and participants joined the conference online from Hong Kong, Ireland, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Pakistan, Türkiye, Ukraine and Italy.
The theme of the TKZ2025 edition was “Challenges in Hydraulic Engineering”, with particular emphasis on energy transition, adaptation to climate change, the development of modern monitoring techniques, and the safety of hydrotechnical facilities in the face of new threats.
During the conference, 38 papers were presented (including 32 by international participants), chosen from 47 submitted. The sessions took the form of:
The presentations featured the results of scientific research, operational experience, concepts for the modernisation of key facilities, and examples of the implementation of innovative monitoring, modelling, and risk management technologies.
Due to the celebration in 2025 the 90th anniversary of the “Gospodarka Wodna” (Water Management), the special anniversary session was organised during the conference. The presentations were given by:
The anniversary session was devoted to the history, role, and prospects for the development of “Gospodarka Wodna” (Water Management) as Poland's leading journal devoted to water management and hydraulic engineering.
The papers submitted to the Conference were published in:
